SCIENCE SCOUTS 
I actually wrote a poem called “Ode to a G-Protein Coupled Receptor”. Look, I was under a lot of pressure.
This is for all of the scientific illustrators out there, who love painting really nerdy things! I have lavished hours of my life on portraits of giant squid and proteins floating around inside cells. Because sometimes, you really CAN’T just take a picture. Trust me.
While studying for a genetics final, I modeled replicating DNA using a knitting project I was working on and some leftover halloween candy.
I have a pattern for a crocheted DNA molecule (stuffed). And while I was looking at it, I noticed that the sample in the photo twists the wrong way. (I had to look it up to confirm, but it’s definitely wrong.)
I wrote a song about Maxwell’s Wave Equations.
I won a Ms. Frizzle look-alike contest with a cephalopod-themed costume.
I paint colour theory and synaesthesia paintings.
Pulled a stint as an Environmental educator, preschool through adult ages. ‘Nuff said.
I consumed incredibled quantities of coffee while working on a robotics project, and then assembled a wallet from the canvas sack that the coffee beans came in.
I continue to pull that environmental educator stint. On “Space Day,” we all made tinfoil hats.
